Origin Story
Where Gaia Began
Gaia was founded in 2026 by a small group of community organizers who witnessed firsthand the gap between grassroots organizations doing transformational work and the resources they needed to sustain it.
Too many powerful CBOs, from neighborhood food banks to youth programs, were overlooked by traditional philanthropic channels. They had the people, the relationships, and the knowledge. They just lacked the platform.
We built Gaia to change that. Named after the ancient Greek personification of Earth, a nurturing, interconnected system, our platform reflects our belief that communities, like ecosystems, flourish when resources flow freely between them.
